Since its establishment in 1956, RAJUK has been playing a significant role in addressing the housing needs of the Dhaka Metropolitan Area. Through the development of planned residential townships such as Gulshan, Banani, and Uttara (1st and 2nd Phases), RAJUK has contributed to structured urban growth. At present, major housing projects including Purbachal New Town, Uttara 3rd Phase, and the Jhilmil Residential Project are under implementation. In addition, RAJUK has developed several multi-storied apartment projects in Gulshan and Banani over the past two decades, while a large multi-storied apartment project in Uttara is currently progressing at full scale. Despite these efforts, Dhaka continues to face an acute accommodation crisis due to rapid population growth, increased urban migration, and limited availability of land.
