Risk Sensitive Land Use Planning for Dhaka City

RAJUK: Urban Resilience Unit with the financial assistance of the World Bank, has taken up Urban Resilience Project to reduce the risk of earthquake damage in Greater Dhaka. Sheltech in partnership with two Turkish company NKY and Protek-Yapi, is working on this Project to prepare ‘Greater Dhaka Risk Sensitive Land Use Strategy’.

This project gives an opportunity to fundamentally influence future development, reduce risk and build resilience is present in the development of the detailed area plans (DAPs). The plan development is scheduled for 2015. The objective is to make the DAP risk-sensitive and to support integration and mainstreaming of HVRA (to include hazards such as earthquake and flood and related risks for Greater Dhaka) in the planning process.
