EIA Study on Construction of Bridge over River Rupsha in Khulna, Phase-2

In consideration of the rapid infrastructure development of the country and as per the social and economic demand of the people along with emphasizing the need for overall socio-economic development of the south west region of Bangladesh and to facilitate the required growth of the Mongla Port, the government of Bangladesh decided to construct a bridge over the River Rupsha. For this purpose in pursuance of the GOB, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has taken initiative to conduct a preparatory study for finding out the possibility to construct a bridge over the River Rupsha. As per agreed condition JICA has already conduct the Master Plan Study covering the Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) and Initial Social Impact Examination (ISIE) simultaneously. As an important component of the whole study relating to the construction of the bridge the associated social and environmental impacts likely to arise from the project is a matter of great concern for project planning
